Jamie Lynn Spears has broken her silence over the conservatorship case between her sister, Britney Spears, and their father, Jamie Spears. The 30-year-old ex-child star said that she has nothing but "love and support" for Britney.

In a series of video statements posted on her Instagram stories, Jamie Lynn said that she kept quiet about Britney's conservatorship case in the past because she wanted her sister to speak for herself first. The mom of two felt that it was not her place to comment on the case when her sister has yet to make a public statement.

Jamie Lynn is nine years younger than Britney and has looked up to the pop superstar all her life. She said that her biggest concern is to ensure that Britney is happy with her choices and that her sister knows she will always have her love and support.

Britney Spears makes a statement

On June 23, Britney sought to end her conservatorship case against their father and admitted in a 20-minute statement in court that her long-running legal battle made her feel left out, alone, and "ganged up on."

The pop icon, who has sold over 100 million records globally, has been in a legal battle with her father since 2008 after undergoing a psychiatric assessment and was ordered by the court to turn over her business affairs to her father.

In 2019, Jamie temporarily turned over the role as Britney's personal conservator to care manager Jodi Montgomery due to his health issues. In early 2020, Montgomery became the permanent conservator with Britney's father as co-manager of the superstar's finances.

Britney also revealed details about the exploitation she felt among her handlers, including their 68-year-old father. Among the shocking confessions the music icon said was that she was forced to keep using contraception as an adult who wanted another child.

The pop superstar told the court that the people controlling her life have access to all of the money she worked hard for. NPR reported that there was no resolution to the case at the end of the hearing. However, Judge Brenda Penny said Britney might formally file a petition to end the conservatorship.

Just a sister

"Now that she's very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feeI I need to say," Jamie Lynn said.

Jamie Lynn also clarified that her main role in Britney's life was just a sister and aunt to her nephews amid reports that she was also added as a trustee in the conservatorship case in 2018. According to Vanity Fair, this meant that, in the event of Britney's death, Jamie Lynn has access to her sister's trust for Britney's children with ex-husband Kevin Federline, Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden James, 14.

In her final video, Jamie Lynn also said that she's proud of Britney for "using her voice" and asking for a new legal counsel. The actress said she had told Britney in private and personal conversations about her views on her case.
