The gruesome killing of Queens mom Orsolya Gaal was finally solved with her handyman lover charged with her murder on Thursday, April 21. Police said David Bonola committed the "horrendous" crime during a fight, with the two of them arguing over their recently-ended on-and-off affair of two years.

According to the New York Post, the 44-year-old was already on the NYPD's radar on Wednesday evening when police officers canvassing for surveillance video spotted him near the crime scene. NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig told reporters at a press conference that they took him back to the 112th Precinct for questioning, where Bonola made "incriminating statements" about Gaal's murder.

Cops said that apart from murder, Bonola was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal tampering for allegedly stabbing the 51-year-old Gaal nearly 60 times with a kitchen knife in the basement of her home in Forest Hills early on Saturday, April 16.

Who is David Bonola?

Bonola was less forthcoming when quizzed by reporters, with the ponytailed suspect spitting out expletives as police led him out of the 112th Precinct on Thursday afternoon. Bonola, sporting a white Tyvek suit, screamed "F-k you, mother f-kers!" before being shoved into a waiting NYPD police car.

So who is David Bonola? According to a Fox 5 New York report, police revealed that he has no prior arrests and that Gaal employed him as a handyman for about two years. Essig revealed on Thursday that Bonola had "an intimate affair" with Gaal during that period when he worked for her.

Chief Julie Morrill, who led the police investigation, said Bonola and Gaal had re-sparked their on-off affair earlier this month. However, they broke up again, with Bonola coming to Gaal's house to speak about their relationship again.

Police sources revealed that the former lovers did not have plans for that ill-fated evening. Bonola did show up at Gaal's home at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, not long after she had returned from an evening out with friends to see a show at Lincoln Center and then having a drink alone at a local bar, according to Essig.

Essig added that the suspect was either let in voluntarily by Gaal, or he used a key that he knew was stashed inside a barbecue to get in the house. The New York Daily News reported that a heated argument ensued between them in the basement.

Essig said a knife was then brandished, and a violent struggle ensued, resulting in Orsolya Gaal being stabbed ruthlessly and brutally more than 55 times, causing her death. He then retrieved a hockey bag belonging to Gaal's son and placed her body inside the bag. Essig said that Bonola was seen in the video rolling Gaal's body down the sidewalk, leaving a bloody trail through the streets of Forest Hills.
