An unnamed couple still struggles to comprehend that the child they conceived naturally and welcomed at birth five years ago is not their biological daughter.

After taking a series of tests to determine the DNA matches, the parents learned the shocking truth. The mother explained in an online community that her husband suspected something was off with their daughter because she had brown eyes while both parents had blue eyes, according to Pop Crush.

So, the dad took a home DNA test to determine paternity and was shocked when he learned there were zero links between him and his daughter. The husband accused his wife of cheating on him, but she insisted she had been faithful.

The couple's marriage was suddenly torn apart, but the mom is certain that her husband got a faulty test. They lived in animosity for a few months until they both agreed to get additional tests from a specialist.

She hoped this could finally prove to her husband that there was no infidelity. Instead, they got another surprising revelation.

"My daughter is not biologically mine either"

The woman relayed that they were due to see a chimerism specialist who could explain why the father and daughter's DNA did not match. According to Genetic Counselors, it's possible for a person to have different sets of DNA from her parents, and a chimerism specialist would be able to explain what likely happened based on more sets of tests.

However, the couple ended up canceling their appointment because they also discovered that their daughter is not biologically the mother's child. The woman said that her whole world has upended after learning this fact, and they reported the incident to the police in case they would proceed with suing the hospital for a potential birth-switching case.

In another post on Reddit, the mom shared that they have been speaking to lawyers about their rights. She fears the daughter, who they now know is not biologically their child, would be taken away from them. At the same time, she's also wondering what happened to their real daughter.

Redditors have advised the couple to get more than one legal opinion because their case is very rare. Family courts also have very complicated rulings that may not end up well if they find their biological daughter and want to be a part of her life. The mother also admitted that they don't know what to do if they find their child's biological parents.

For now, the couple isn't telling anything to their daughter and is still weighing all of their options.

The husband explains why he got the paternity test

The husband also explained why he thought his wife cheated on him and got a paternity test to prove it. He said he descended into depression when COVID happened while his wife stayed beautiful and motivated. He also felt that his wife might have started to regret marrying him; he feared he could lose everything.

He came across one post about paternity, and someone shared information about the color of the eyes of his non-biological child. That rang a bell and opened a can of worms for the husband.

He admitted his depression and fears led him on a witchhunt for evidence, and this is where they both ended up. Meanwhile, the wife also defended her husband and said that he's not a monster nor an abuser. She said she has her husband's support in facing their new future with a daughter who is not biologically their child.

"We are not going to let this situation break our marriage," the wife said.
