Joanna Gaines Reflects on Eldest Son Who is Moving Out For College: "It Can Feel Like a Loss"

Fixer Upper star, Joanna Gaines, reflects on what changes may come every season. In an essay for the new fall issue of Magnolia Journal, the Magnolia co-owner revealed what she looked forward to fall and what things will it bring.

She also opens up about her eldest son soon leaving their house for college.

As everyone might know, she loves a good reveal. New York Times bestselling author disclose that by mid-August, she's prepared for cooler winds and golden leaves. She also confirmed that she's ready to witness how autumn will sweep up nearly every display in summer and just to have a glimpse of wisdom in what vanishes.

She also reflected on 20 years of marriage with Chip Gaines and said that she has experienced a lot of things with her husband and during their marriage. There are times when they lose their loved ones, and experience numerous changes and shifts in friendships. Moments where their hearts were torn apart as they also couldn't pay their bills where they came to the point where they lost hope and couldn't control the circumstances happening to them and what all the 44-year-old actress could think to do was to lay flat on the floor in surrender, per Good Morning America (GMA).

She also wrote that her eldest son, Drake, 17 years old, will soon be moving out of the nest for college. She revealed that in the grand scheme of heartbreaking things, what her eldest son has comes with gratefulness and excitement. Hence, the fact that her son is soon leaving home feels like a loss to her which made her even sadder as she knows that the family routine will change due to her son leaving. She feels both excitements as her son will now enter college and sadness as she will be away from her son.

On the other hand, the mom of five stated that she surrender themselves as she look forward to the promise of growth following the fall. She leaves advice to people who feel lost in this moment to remember that whatever you might be carrying or experiencing this season will eventually be okay and you just have to keep moving forward, per ABC News.

Who are Joanna and Chip Gaines' five children?

The businesswoman and husband, Chip, are parents to five children, namely: Drake, 17, Ella Rose, 15, Duke, 14, Emmie Kay, 12, and Crew, 4.

The couple became popular after their breakout HGTV series entitled Fixer Upper and soon launched their Magnolia Television Network or the rebranding of the DIY Network around January. The Gaines' business has developed over the years which now includes a number of magazines, home decor lines and books, and lastly cookbooks.

Joanna shared a sweet side-by-side photo of Crew, her youngest son, on Instagram, the previous week. Crew was seen wrapped in a blanket in the first photo whereas in the right photo, he was similarly wrapped and half of his face is peeking out. She wrote in a caption, read

"Babies don't keep. Just pretending this FOUR-year-old is still a baby," per People.
