David Bizzaro was overwhelmed when he found out he was going to be a parent for the first time. The news that the puppeteer was going to become a dad came just after learning that he was living with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Bizzaro told People magazine in an interview that he was in a little bit of a panic because he had just found out that he may have ADHD, and then he was set to become a first-time dad.

Bizzaro, who most recently worked on Netflix's Waffle + Mochi's Restaurant as Mochi, added that he thought then that he has got to get a handle of this somewhat because when this kid shows up, they were not going to be sleeping a lot. He said he was going to be receiving a lot of stimulation from this tiny human, who needs his support.

He explained that since his nature is to be straightforward and honest, he was eager to learn more about his disorder to be able to better explain himself to the people around him, including his wife Cassie.

He started getting certain methods in place to help him deal with ADHD, only to find out that when his infant son arrived back in May, keeping those methods in place was a lot like parenting itself.

Bizzaro said he thought he was ready as he studied up for this thing and then it happenned, and he was like this is actually happening in a different way than he thought it would. The puppeteer said he cannot do the method the way he thought he would.

The couple worked with Bizzaro's therapist to help Cassie understand his issues with task transition and task management, things that many people living with ADHD struggle with. The therapist also explained to the couple how these issues can be handled so the needs of every member of their family are met.

Bizzaro admitted that there were times where he would get angry and annoyed about these situations. Learning he was dealing with ADHD and the subsequent treatments he is taking made the Emmy winner realize that there was no reason for him to be mad about this.

Bizzaro said what he did not know was it was happening because he was having a hard time with task transition and he knew himself enough to know that her telling him added another level of stress. He knew that he was going to forget this thing she said, and then she is going to be mad at him about it.

The pair have also developed a routine when it comes to putting to bed their now 5-month-old son. He said they had to go deep into their communication as first-time parents when they first brought their child home.
