‘Final Fantasy 15’ Release Date & Trailer: Special Edition Xbox One Controller Revealed – What We Know So Far

Great news for “Final Fantasy” fanatics. A new special edition “Final Fantasy XV” controller for the Xbox One has been revealed.

As “Final Fantasy XV” itself is reportedly coming sometime next year, it would make sense that game developer Square Enix would make its entrance a grandiose one. One of the big moves that it has in promoting the highly-anticipated installment is the special edition controller for the Xbox One console, Play Asia revealed.

Hardcore Gamer reported that this is not the first time that Square Enix and Microsoft teamed up for such a venture. A few years back, both companies worked together for the release of “Final Fantasy XIII” in the East and releasing this good-looking controller is one of those good things that spring up when good companies work together.

The controller looks great and is reflective of the main characters' uniforms: it comes in a simple but striking black-white-silver ensemble that will make you feel like you're a part of the group yourself – or at least, in your imagination.

The characters' uniforms, according to “Final Fantasy XV” game director Hajime Tabata, are crucial for the story and not just for design.

"The clothing worn by the four main characters is the official battle gear of the Kingdom of Lucis," Tabata explained in the game's forums. "Noctis is a member of the royal family and the other three characters are parts of various Lucian national organisations and they are each wearing the specific battle dress relevant to their individual stations."

Tabata added that black is special to the game's story.

"In the Kingdom of Lucis where our heroes reside, the color black has historically been treated as a special color,” he said.

"Because of this, the attire of the royal family and those in occupations closely tied to them are unified by having black as a base coloring. This part of the lore is the reason why the outfits of all four main characters are black."

That explains where the controller got its beautiful design from. HG added that unlike other special edition game controllers that seem to be half-baked, this one appears to be well-conceived and well-made. Players will probably want to play through Noctis' amazing journeys with the gang while holding this equally amazing-looking controller.

So far, no announcement regarding a worldwide release has been made. Square Enix hasn't released any word on the controller just yet.

IGN reported that Square will announce the “Final Fantasy XV” release date in a special event on March 2016. Fans better be excited when the game releases.
