Arriving on the same day with the royal baby is not only exciting, but can be rewarding for British babies and their expecting parents.
Babies born on the same day as the first child of royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William will receive free lucky silver pennies bearing a shield of the Royal Arms, the Royal Mint in U.K. announced July 4.
Gifting a newborn, with silver or a silver penny is an old tradition followed across U.K. to bring good luck and prosperity. The government owned company has already minted 2,013 silver pennies and has designed pink and blue pouches for celebrating the royal baby's birth.
"The birth of the royal baby will be a joyous occasion not just for Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but also for the whole nation, as we prepare to celebrate another remarkable milestone in their life journey together," Shane Bissett, director of the commemorative coin at the Royal Mint, told Us Weekly, in a statement.
Middleton is all set to give birth in St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Princess Diana had welcomed her sons William and Prince Harry. A medical team under the supervision of royal gynecologist, Dr. Marcus Setchell is already waiting to provide their service and assistance to the 31-year-old during the birth. William would be breaking royal tradition and accompanying his wife in the labor room to witness their baby's birth. The royal baby is expected to come on July 11.
