Samsung Galaxy S7 News & Upates: In Just 2 Days, Samsung Sold More Than 100,000 Units in South Korea

Within the first two days of its official launch, Samsung has sold more than 100,000 units of Galaxy S7 series smartphones in South Korea.

According to a report from The Times of India, after the Samsung smartphones hit the South Korean market on Friday, combined sales of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge reached 60,000 on Friday and 40,000 on Saturday. From the total of the two-day sales, the Galaxy S7 Edge model accounted for around 40 percent. These figures reveal that the regular Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone model is the most popular of the two models in the series.

Market analysts declared that the initial pace of sales is roughly on par with demand generated last year by the Galaxy S6 series phones. This suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone series is at least as popular as last year's Galaxy S6 series.

The two latest high-end Samsung smartphone models were unveiled last month at a trade fair in Spain. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge are dust-resistant and waterproof. They also feature larger battery capacities.

The handsets offer improved camera performance with enhanced low-light capabilities and fast auto-focus. The new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone series also reintroduced the microSD card for expandable memory options.

Saturday is usually a "slow day" for sales, but the Galaxy S7 series smartphones fared pretty well. Samsung has declared that the company is content with the initial sales performance.

However, in the context of low performance of company's mobile business division, these sales figures have remained rather modest. In order to revitalize its mobile phone sales, Samsung needs to focus on a better marketing strategy for its Galaxy S7 series.

According to Android Authority, these initial sales figures show that the new Samsung phones haven't piqued the consumer interest that much. However, global smartphone sales of the South Korean high-tech giant may look quite different to those of its home nation. Before drawing a conclusion about the impact of the Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone series on the company's mobile business, we still need to wait for Samsung's quarterly report.
