Raising boys to be good men starts at home. Parents should implant values and respect upon raising their little boy for him to respect the ladies as he grows older.

Raising good men is an ongoing process, and it requires consistency. According to Women's Day, bringing up your son's character requires a role model. Parents should mold and instill values into their child, for them to grow up the way they were raised.

Contrary to the saying that boys will be boys, it is not impossible to train boys to become gentlemen. Listed below are a few tips in raising boys to become good men:

Emotional Management

It is important to raise a boy that known how to manage his emotions. According to Women's Day men should be inclined with their feelings, which make it important for them to manage it accordingly. Christine Nicholson, a psychologist stated that it is important to let young boys express their feelings.

"Some qualities that we stereotypically think of as 'manly' are actually repressive-being stoic and in control, not showing how you feel," Nicholson stated. "If your son is upset and you say, 'Buck up, it's not that bad,' he learns to hide his feelings."

Exhibit Unbiased Chivalry

Boys should be thought to acknowledge the difference between men and women. At this point, their female counterparts are shooting for equality, but it does not mean they should stop opening the doors.

"We need to teach boys that chivalrous behavior is an acknowledgment of difference-not inequality-between the sexes," Dorothy Dorfman, a psychotherapist, tells Parenting. "Convey sentiments of politeness and civility, not a perception of weakness. Chivalry and girls achieving great things are separate issues."

Be a Good Role Model

Parents should be the best examples. Parenting cited that mothers are the "secret weapon" in raising good men as they are the first woman a little boy could love. As for fathers' on the other hand, they should be a good role model as young boys look up to them. It was mentioned that fathers should help their son verbalize their feelings.
