The world was in shock after the boxing legend, Muhammad Ali passed away at the age of 47. In lieu of his passing, the "Pursuit of Happiness" actor, Will Smith, posted a moving tribute. As of the latest update on Muhammad Ali's funeral, it was reported that Will Smith is given the privilege to carry the legendary boxer's casket.
Mohammad Ali made a huge impact not only on Will Smith's life, but also his career. In 2001, Smith played the character of Mohammed Ali in a movie titled, Ali. To commend with Smith with his portrayal, Ali told Oprah that Will Smith's character actually "scared" him.
According to Billboard, Will Smith have been very vocal about his grief as he was greatly affected by Mohammed Ali's passing. He mentioned that Ali was not only a great friend, but he was also his mentor that changed his life.
Due to their close relationship, ESPN reported that Will Smith will be one of the pallbearers for at Muhammad Ali's funeral. He will be buried in his hometown, Louisville, Kentucky. Aside from Will Smith, the heavy weight champion, Lennox Lewis and Mohammad Ali's sparring partner, Jerry Ellis will also carry his coffin.
The memorial service will start at 2 PM, which would be live-streamed. Several celebrities and world leaders are expected to attend his funeral.
Muhammad Ali died of septic shock on June 3. He died at the age of 74, wherein he was surrounded by his loved ones in his final moments.
He was rushed to the hospital due to a respiratory issue before he eventually passed away. His services will include a procession which would then be followed by a private burial. Before the day would end, they would be having a public memorial, which would be held at the KFC Yum! Center by 2pm(Eastern Time) , with only 15,000 tickets.
