Neil Patrick Harris a Disciplinarian Parent to Twin Kids, Reveals David Burtka

David Burtka, husband of Neil Patrick Harris, recently dropped by "Today" on NBC to promote his upcoming musical, "It Shoulda Been You," on Broadway. The theater actor, however, could not help but gush about his almost perfect family. He and Harris, both 40 years old, are parents to four-year old twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott.

Speaking with the host of the show, Burtka revealed that he's having the best time of his life. His face instantly lit up when he talked about his kids, describing them as "very different in their own ways."

"He's very into Transformers and she wants to be 'presented.' She's singing everywhere; he cooks with me all the time; she wants things brought to her," says Burtka on Today. He also implied that when it comes to enforcing discipline on their kids, Harris is "more of a disciplinarian and more of a stern task-maker," while he's the one who gives the "maternal hugs." In a 2014 interview on ABC, Harris did admit that he's the strict parent and his voice gets really intense when disciplining the kids.

Having twins has been a conscious decision for both, as David and Neil are the twins' biological parents who were born in October 2010 via a surrogate. However, they have no interest in learning which of their sperms fathered Harper or Gideon. "It's so funny. I see myself in each of them at different times," said Harris in an interview with People Magazine.

Recently, the pair drew attention for the way they raise their kids when it comes to loving food. Burtka, who is also a chef and a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu cooking school, reveals that the twins love everything they feed them, including those that aren't usually enjoyed by kids like sushi, capers, and oysters, according to US Magazine.

Burtka does the task of cooking for the family but it's Harris who does the plating and serves the drinks. The fathers dote on their kids quite a lot, as seen in Harris' Instagram account.

On his marriage to the star of "How I Met Your Mother," Burtka said that it's not entirely perfect. "We have a really great recipe for a wonderful relationship, but we don't want to be the poster boys for gay relationships. We're not trying to pretend that we are perfect. We're just trying - in a good, positive, loving way - to live our lives," he shares in an interview with Out Magazine.
