While "Homeland" Season 6 is expectedly taking place in New York, as producers have revealed early on, there's still some plots in the upcoming season that will happen overseas. Recent casting calls hint of more character additions and it looks the cast and crew will fly to Morocco in October for additional location shoots.
The Israel Hayom reports that "Homeland" casting call were made recently, where at least seven roles have been filled. These actors will be playing minor parts in "Homeland" Season 6, such as Mossad agents and technicians, but some actors are also going to play Palestinian or Iranian natives.
The actors who have been picked were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, hence not much else is known about their participation in "Homeland" Season 6. Additionally, the news report cites that filming will begin in Morocco from Oct. 14 to 21, which could suggest that "Homeland" will soon be moving from New York to outside the country in the later episodes.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that Dominic Fumusa ("Nurse Jackie") is going to be part of "Homeland" Season 6 in a recurring role as Agent Ray Conlin. It is unclear if the actor will be in the overseas filming location or if the character is Agent Quinn's replacement. Fumusa joins other guest recurring actors in "Homeland" Season 6, such Robert Knepper (as General McClendon) and Elizabeth Marvel (as the president).
"Homeland" Season 6 will see Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) inactive with the CIA. Instead, the character will be working with a foundation that helps Muslims in America. According to Deadline, "Homeland" Season 6 is supposed to begin on Election Day until the new president's inauguration, thus tackling the transition of power between two governments. Viewers are to expect more tension-filled story development in "Homeland" Season 6.
The show also stars Mandi Pantikin and Rupert Friend, who have been part of the show from the early seasons. "Homeland" Season 6 is going to premiere on Jan. 15, 2017 on Showtime.
