‘Arrow’ Season 5 Episode 2 Spoilers: ‘The Recruits’ To Introduce New Green Vigilantes; Who Is Prometheus?

"Arrow" season 5 finally premiered and, so far, the show seems to be holding onto the producers' promise that the show will re-embrace its roots; as for the next episode "The Recruits," it seems like the Emerald Archer will be getting down to training new prospective team members along with a brand new enemy named Prometheus.

As shown in the "Arrow" season 5 episode 2 promotional trailer on YouTube shared by Trending Promos, "The Recruits" will have Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) taking on the new brand of vigilantes that came out in Star City; and it seems they will be just as green as him though in a less literal way. Moreover, the new villain Prometheus will be starting his attack on Star City in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2.

One of the new recruits to Team Arrow 2.0 in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2 is the vigilante Wild Dog, so named by Felicity for his short which shows a dog doing making a particularly silly expression because "Silly Dog" "didn't have the same ring to it." Wild Dog, whose real name is Jack Wheeler and played by Rick Gonzales in the show, is one of the lesser known characters from DC Comics.

"Arrow" season 5 episode 2 "The Recruits" will also finally bring in Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) into the main vigilante team, with Kellum now promoted to main character capacity. The premiere saw Holt getting assaulted during his search for Wild Dog; seemingly angry, and perhaps not wishing to have the bruising he endured be in vain, "The Recruits" might finally have Curtis Hold begin his path to becoming Mr. Terrific.

As for the new villain making his proper entrance in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2, "The Recruits" will see Prometheus attack Star City for currently unrevealed reasons. No specific details about the character's identity have been provided as of yet; though the Prometheus seems to carry Michael Dorn's distinctive voice, probably through a voice changer.

Based on a report by Comic Book, the "Arrow" version of Prometheus that will attack Star City in "Arrow" Season 5 episode 2 "The Recruits" is not the same Prometheus that DC comic book fans know. The most famous Prometheus in DC Comics is the one designed as a Bizarro-Batman; possessing similar great mental capabilities and martial prowess as the Dark Knight, Prometheus was driven to fighting against justice after his criminal parents were killed.

For the "Arrow" version of Prometheus, the show will seemingly once again move closer to embodying the accusations of the Green Arrow being a stand-in for Batman with this Prometheus being another Dark Archer antagonist to the Green Arrow. Moreover, Prometheus' attacks on Star City that will start in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2 "The Recruits" will apparently be fueled by another personal vendetta against Oliver Quen/Green Arrow.

In an interview with IGN, "Arrow" executive producer Wendy Mericle said that Prometheus "has a very personal grudge and axe to grind with Oliver, and he's going to come at him in a really interesting, sociopathic kind of way." Mericle's words indicate that Prometheus has a grudge against Oliver himself, and not the Green Arrow, indicating that Prometheus's attack in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2 "The Recruits" will be aimed at the new mayor of Star City.

As for Prometheus' real identity; speculations range from it either being a revived Tommy Merlyn or Robert Queen, which would fit the "personal grudge" bit very well. So who is Prometheus? Maybe viewers will find out the answer in "Arrow" season 5 episode 2 "The Recruits" when it airs on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
