"Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey is a mother for the second time. The actress welcomed a baby girl on Saturday, July 11. The new mom introduced her new bundle of joy to her followers in Twitter.
Headey, 41, first announced her pregnancy on February. She told People, "I'm happy to confirm that I'm having my second child this summer." The actress decided to reveal her pregnancy in a hope of regaining some privacy, which she felt was lost after some photographers kept on prying her.
Headey is an active supporter of women's rights. On her essay for Plan International USA in May, she revealed that she is expecting a baby girl in six weeks. On her post, the new mom vowed that her daughter will live her life without restrictions and will be provided with basic human rights.
"My daughter will have freedom of choice. She will be free to dance, to sing, to be educated in the fields that spark her passion, to marry if she wants, to marry WHO she wants, to remain single, or to fall in love with another woman. She'll be able to wear what she wants, put on lipstick, and read books that spark debate and expand her mind, " Headey wrote. "She will be loved, protected, respected, and celebrated. All these things that should be, and will be, basic human rights, are a promise to my daughter."
Headey is already a mom to five-year-old son Wylie, whom she had with her ex-husband, musician Peter Loughran. The couple divorced in 2013.
Everyone is happy for Headey, and, at the same time, curious who the father of her second child is. After Headey's split with her ex-husband, the actress remained mum about her love life, and she never mentioned or hinted about the father of her daughter. However, there were speculations that her co-star, Pedro Pascal, 39, is her new love. In a report from Mail Online, the two were spotted going out regularly during Headey's pregnancy, which spurs the issue that the two are an item.
Although they were frequently seen together, the pair never admitted of any budding romance, and there were no indications that Pascal is indeed the father. Pascal played the character of Oberyn Martell, a member of House Martell and is known as Red Viper in "Game of Thrones." His character was killed at the end of season four in one of the most terrifying and violent scenes.
The father of Headey's second child will remain a secret until the new mom confirms it.
At the moment, Headey has switched from being Queen Regent Cersei in "Game of Thrones" to a US secret agent in a new version of the classic children's cartoon, "Danger Mouse." The mother of two admitted that having kids somehow changed her perspective. She said, "I wanted to do it because it was pure nostalgia for me. I have children now and it's just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it," Mirror has learned.
