Two big, mysterious baddies have taken center stage on "The Flash" Season 3 -- Doctor Alchemy and a speedster deity that is still largely unknown at this point. Fortunately, executive producers of "The Flash" have recently addressed the villains and teased when Doctor Alchemy's secret identity will be revealed and when viewers will meet Savitar.
"The Flash" executive producer Todd Helbing told IGN in August that Savitar is different from other speedster villains that The CW show has introduced in the past such as Zoom (Teddy Sears) or Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher). Savitar is "more of a psychological villain in a weird way" and is considered as the "God of Speed" or "God of Motion," Helbing explained.
"The Flash" executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed that Savitar will appear before the midseason finale, specifically in episodes six and seven and prior to the four-way "Invasion!" crossover, Entertainment Weekly reported. Berlanti also said that Doctor Alchemy's mask will be lifted on the midseason finale of "The Flash" Season 3.
Doctor Alchemy is one of the villains that kept their real identities hidden until a vital event. Clues about the antagonist's identity have been scarce but many "The Flash" viewers speculate that he could be Julian Albert (Tom Felton).
Julian doesn't seem to display any powers but it could just be a ploy to throw Barry a.k.a. The Flash (Grant Gustin) off his scent, Screen Crush noted. This theory is also supported by the fact that Julian only showed up after Barry attempted to fix the Flashpoint timeline.
His secret Doctor Alchemy identity is probably the reason why Julian stays by Barry's side as his fellow CSI even though they clearly despise each other, International Business Times pointed out. This could be Julian's way to monitor Barry's movements.
Another clue that Julian is Doctor Alchemy is his surname, Albert. In "The Flash" comics, 'Albert' is the first name of Doctor Alchemy's alter ego, Albert Desmond. It remains to be seen if this theory is true and the reveal is not far now.
Helbing told TVLine in August that Savitar will terrorize Central City as The Flash and his friends are trying to thwart Doctor Alchemy's evil plans. Helbing said that Savitar's appearance is "like flanking" in the sense that a villain was just taken down but another one rises to the fore. Helbing won't reveal whether Savitar and Doctor Alchemy are in collusion but their respective nefarious plans "are not much different."
"The Flash" Season 3 airs a new episode titled "Shade" on Tuesday, Nov. 15. What do you think about Savitar? Do you believe that Doctor Alchemy is Julian in disguise? Share your thoughts below.
