NFL had one more bizarre sights again in this season after Baltimore Ravens were raring to commit eight penalties on the final play of Sunday's game in against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Baltimore Ravens were up seven points with 11 seconds left and lined up for a fourth-down punt. When the ball was snapped, Baltimore's line began a series of blocks by hanging on their hands on any Bengals defender they could find and allowed the time to run out.
Fox Sports News reported that there were probably seven or eight separate holding calls that could have been made on that play. Flags were thrown out but it was ultimately all frivolous. Baltimore Ravens won the game on that play and took control of first place in the AFC North. It was a peculiar, successful, and most interesting of all intentional NFL play.
According to SB Nation, the play started from the fourth down from their 28-yard line, Baltimore Ravens lined up for a punt with under a minute to play. Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh, with a special play background, ran the clock down to 11 seconds. He took a five-yard delay of game penalty to pin Baltimore Ravens back at their own 23-yard line with the Cincinnati Bengals poised to have a return and one possible offensive play before the clock expired.
However, Harbaugh used this special play to get Baltimore Ravens a much-needed win. Baltimore Ravens punter Sam Koch took the snap after the penalty, ran around, and took a safety play as the clock expired. However, as the play ensued, Baltimore Ravens was also flagged for a holding penalty. Even with the foul and Koch running out of his own end zone for a safety, Baltimore Ravens was able to win the game due to the league rulebook.
"We know what our team did wrong in the Super Bowl. Now we kind of learned from it and just made sure that everybody did what they needed to and hold on as long as they could and ended up winning the game," Baltimore Ravens punter Sam Koch said.
Do you think it was unfair for the Baltimore Ravens to play like this in NFL?
