4-Year-Old With Cancer Miraculously Wakes Up From Coma To Say 'I Love You' To Mom

Truly, a mother's love is so indispensable, even up to her child's last breath. A true testament to this is the report that a four-year-old cancer patient named Nolan Scully miraculously woke up from deep sleep just to say his sweet parting words just a second before he passed away.

In November 2015, Ruth Scully learned the most shattering news any mother could receive — her three-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer. The toddler reportedly had a rare type of cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, which affects a person' soft tissues, as per Scary Mommy.

After days of serious lack of appetite, Nolan's doctor said that his disease had apparently spread like wildfire. To savor the time, Nolan's final days were filled with precious moments like playing Nerf guns, watching YouTube and chatting with her mom.

At one point, he even laid out his plans for his own funeral, like the visitors' attire or his choice of pallbearers. However, these were only short circumstances as most of the time, Nolan was too frail and often sleep more than usual.

Ruth accepted the fact that Nolan could not live any longer, and she urged him to rest because it was what's "safe" for him. The mom from Maryland also signed a "Do Not Resuscitate" form with a broken heart just so she could let go of his child from pain.

"Poot, this Cancer stuff sucks. You don't have to fight anymore," Ruth's post on Facebook read, which chronicled her last days with her son. The toddler responded with pure happiness, "I DONT??!! But I will for you Mommy!!" Nolan, apparently, was holding it together only to save his mom from pain.

Days passed and on February 4th, Nolan went into deep sleep and started to have labored breaths. The four-year-old's lungs started to collapse and he did not respond nor move anymore.

Just as when he curled up in a rug outside the shower like he used to, it was the start of his bid to goodbye. After 18 months of fighting his disease, Nolan happily gave up after waking up with a smile on his face as he said his last words to his mom.

"My angel took a breath, opened his eyes, smiled at me and said 'I Love You Mommy,' turned his head towards me and at 11:54 pm," Ruth wrote. "Sgt. Rollin Nolan Scully passed away as I was singing 'You are My Sunshine' in his ear."

Since that fateful day, Ruth gathered strength to tell the world how his son held to his last strength just to say he loved her. Two months after Nolan's passing, Ruth posted a photo of Nolan waiting outside the shower, side-by-side an empty rug where he was supposed to be.

"Now I'm the one terrified to shower," Ruth admitted. "With nothing but an empty shower rug now where once a beautiful perfect little boy laid waiting for his Mommy."

Rhabdomyosarcoma accounts to three percent of the entire childhood cancers in the United States. According to American Cancer Society, most Rhabdomyosarcoma-striken patients are children and teens, and more common for ages 10 years old below.
