Woman Wants to Leave Husband and Kid After Discovering That Child Is Not Biologically Hers

A woman’s life has been turned upside down after finding out that her surrogate-born child she believed was biologically hers, is not. In an emotional post shared on Reddit’s “Am I the A**hole” forum, the 36-year-old woman narrated how she battled infertility for years only to be hit by shocking revelations.

Over seven years in marriage, this lady and her husband have had difficulties conceiving children. When multiple medical interventions failed to work within four years, they resulted in engaging a surrogate mother. It was two years ago that another close friend from college who had birthed two children before agreed to carry their baby boy.

Signs of Betrayal Surface

In the early stages she noticed some oddities like having brown eyes for her son yet both parents have blue ones; however, this appeared to be just natural variations due to genetic reasons. However, it is when during a recent visit at a medical facility where metabolic panel and blood tests were conducted that it was identified that her blood type was incompatible with his son’s. This led her to question the practices of the clinic only for DNA results reveal she wasn’t his biological mother.

The truth was revealed when her husband admitted to having sexual relations with the surrogate. He thought that she could not get pregnant by means of contraception. The confession brought about an irreparable breach of trust which affected both her husband and best friend.

Legal and Emotional Fallout

To retain sanity given every day reminds her about what they did together behind their back, this woman has sought an attorney so as relinquish parental rights and obligations. Her choice to not be there for the child has been met with differing opinions from her family members and friends.

In spite of the fact that he is not biologically related to her, her parents are backing her decision to leave the marriage because they advised her to maintain a relationship with their son.
