Charlie Hunnam got married when he was only 18-years-old. The "Sons of Anarchy" star, however, revealed it was a mistake and he particularly called this decision as "terrible," "painful" and "expensive."
Hunnam, now 37, met actress Katharine Towne during an audition and admitted he instantly fell in love with her. This was in 1999 and they remained married for three years.
"I'd known the girl for three weeks, and we'd fallen madly in love," Hunnam said, as per Daily Mail. They decided to have the wedding in Las Vegas at the Silver Bell Wedding Chapel at 2 a.m.
Hunnam further detailed he wasn't sure at first if they would be able to marry since he couldn't even legally drink in Sin City at that time. Hunnam admitted he also had the logic of a teenager when he decided to get hitched.
"We thought, 'What if we never see each other again?" Hunnam said. "Let's get married and we'll have to see each other again even if it's just to get divorced." The divorce happened in 2002.
With this "three terrible, painful, expensive years," behind him, Hunnam went on to star in "Sons of Anarchy," which became a cult favorite among TV fans. He also met a new girl in 2005 and he's been with jewelry designer Morgana McNelis since, according to E! News.
Hunnam and McNelis have not tied the knot but he declared his intention to spend his golden years with her. The "Lost City of Z" actor said McNelis was always with him "long before I had any success or money."
Meanwhile, Hunnam also revealed he and McNelis did not communicate for five months while he worked on his latest movie. "I just wanted to feel lonely and selfish so it worked," the actor said, as per Entertainment Tonight. "Thankfully, I have an incredible girlfriend who's very, very understanding and supportive of these silly whims that I have."
