Game company Blizzard Entertainment shows a breathtaking cinematic trailer and an equally breathtaking reveal of the release date of the last installment to the "StarCraft II" trilogy, titled the "Legacy of the Void."
Gamespot reports that in a special event in Los Angeles hosted by William "Chobra" Cho, the game company showcased the opening cinematics for the much awaited release of "Legacy of the Void," the third part in the "StarCraft II" trilogy.
Blizzard has announced that the game will be released on November 10. Pre-orders are now available, and everyone who gets to purchase the game in advance will get a great opportunity -- immediate access to Legacy of the Void's three-mission prologue even though the game hasn't been released yet.
These prologue missions connect the second part, Heart of the Swarm, to Legacy, and will eventually be available for free.
PCworld reports that Legacy follows after the first two parts of the trilogy, namely Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, bringing to a close almost twenty years of StarCraft.
Wings of Liberty centers in on the adventures of Jim Raynor and the Terran race, as Raynor battles with the Zerg (as well as some Terrans) eventually rescuing Sarah Kerrigan, the former Terran ghost-turned-infested queen of blades that led the swarm after the Overmind in StarCraft I fell.
Heart of the Swarm, following after the events of WoL, revolves around Sarah Kerrigan's efforts in leading the Zerg race to its glory and further growth. Kerrigan returns to the swarm after being rescued by Raynor.
Legacy of the Void follows after the two, this time centering in on the Protoss race, fighting for their homeland.
The cinematic showcased in the special event shows an awesome fight between the Protoss and the Zerg. The Zerg have overtaken the land, and the Protoss are fighting back to reclaim it.
"Today, we retake our homeworld," said a fierce Protoss warrior.
The opening also showcased what may be nostalgic to many StarCraft players: the fusing of two templars, forming an Archon who lets out the shout, "power overwhelming."
PCworld says that Blizzard probably has a lot of faith in its Real-Time Strategy game, releasing it on the same day as Fallout 4, another highly-anticipated game.
The International Business Times reports that the game is currently available for preorder in the Battle.net store. Prices are $39.99 for the standard edition, and $59.99 for the deluxe edition which comes with bonus in-game items and a bunch of digital items for other games like World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone.
Fans will just have to wait until Nov. 10, but it will all be worth it.
