Recent reports about the highly anticipated book "Winds of Winter" are giving fans hope that the novel will be available soon. It has been four years of waiting for the sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire," yet the hype about the popular book series is becoming even more intense.
The celebrity author George RR Martin has already expressed his inclination of finishing the book before "Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres. Martin admitted that he set the book aside for six months due to other commitment like editing and book tours that when he gets home to continue it, the iron has already cooled off.
However, the 66-year-old writer said that publishing "Winds of Winter" before its TV adaptation airs next spring is important to him, Entertainment Weekly reports. "I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," said the best-selling New Mexico author.
In fact, he shared that he canceled several appearances just to concentrate on the book. "I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews—anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."
However, fans seem to doubt that the release date will not be moved, especially that Martin has been notorious in delaying the book. In an interview with GeekWire, the famous author revealed that there was a time when he felt worried that the TV series will catch up with his books, but he just set his worries aside knowing that it cannot change his circumstance in any way.
There were speculations that he is no longer pressured to finish the book, now that the TV series is making its own approach and is no longer relying on the book. In fact, the TV series might finish first before Martin completes the book.
However, there is hope that the book will see the light of day soon. Last week, Alejo Cuervo, editor for Ediciones Gigamesh, the small Spanish publisher who owns the rights to the books confirmed in an interview that the book is expected in 2016.
Moreover, Martin has been hinting fans about the book. In his journal Not A blog, he posted: "And while I will be travelling, my army on minions will be here at the old homestead, toiling in the paper mines," when he was on his way to attend a wedding and a baseball match. Fans believed that the "minions" were the people in the publishing while the "paper mines" were the printers. In one of his speeches, he also told the crowd that "winter is coming."
With the latest development and rumors about the book, there is a big possibility that it will be out by April, before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs, according to The Week.
