Samsung and Apple have been very active in bringing new smartphones and gadgets to their users. This year, Microsoft will be giving a good competition among the tech giants as they unveil new phones in the upcoming event next month.
According to The Verge, Microsoft has started sending out invitations to media outlets for a special Windows 10 devices launch scheduled next month. The teaser invitation reads "We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices," PCWorld reports.
The report suggests that the invitation did not include other relative information. The press event will be held in New York on Oct. 6, where the software giant will launch a range of hardware running Windows 10.
In a separate report from The Verge, sources familiar with Mircrosoft's plans disclosed that among the gadgets to be unveiled during the event are two new Lumia handsets, the Surface Pro 4, and a Microsoft Band 2.
The report claims that the details were first reported in a Chinese site WP Dang, and they can confirm that there is a scheduled event where multiple new hardware devices are set to be unveiled. The report suggests that the main focus for the said events are the two new Lumia handsets and the Surface Pro 4.
Surface Pro 4 is rumored to have the same form-factor as its predecessor SurfacePro 3 but it is equipped with a newer Skylake processor and native Windows 10 integration, GameSpot has learned. Although, the Sufrace Pro 4 does not promise a drastic change from Pro 3, it doesn't actually guarantee that Microsoft won't make big changes.
According to the Verge, Microsoft can increase the display size and resolution for Surface Pro 4 while making it thinner and lighter. There are rumors that Microsoft will be utilizing Windows Hello support for the said device with a fingerprint scanner on its updated refined Surface keyboards.
On the other hand, Microsoft 's Lumia phones have struggled in the market. According to the report, Microsoft will be unveiling two new flagship phones on the said event, dubbed as "Talkman" and "Cityman" to catch up with Apple's iPhone 6S and other flagship phones running the Android system, PCWorld has learned.
Microsoft Band is a productivity wearable that launched as the market for wearable looms prosper. Apple has its Apple Watch, while Samsung has Samsung Watch. To get even in the market, Microsoft developed their Microsoft Band. According to the report, the Band itself is good but it lacks the third-party apps that makes the smartwatches stand out.
