Apple is not slowing down when it comes to providing development to their products. The company has just unveiled a new operating system for their users, the iOS9, which promises a better user experience.
The new operating system upgrade was launched on Wednesday. In Apple's website they describe iOS9 as full of enhancements that users will appreciate every day. It is equipped with a new multitasking feature to improve productivity and a smarter Siri.
Upgrading to the new operating system can enhance the phone's performance, battery life and security. As the company puts it, "The more you do with iOS 9, the more you'll wonder how you ever did without it."
According to USA Today, the highlight of iOS9 is a new News app that users will find on the front page of their iOS device offering new stories in bigger fonts and better display. The company calls the said app as "new mobile reading experience" and features several publisher partners, including New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, CNN, BuzzFeed and the Guardian.
For those who are still not decided whether to upgrade or not,the new operating system is efficient in improving battery life. Forbes reports that it adds up to one additional hour of usage for iPhone 6. When the device is in the new Low Power Mode, it can extend the battery life up to 3 additional hours.
Low Power Mode is a new feature that Apple added for their new operating system. According to News.com.au, when the phone reached 20 percent and the user turns the Low Power Mode on, it will give the user extra 40 minutes of battery life by dropping the screen's brightness and closing some background tasks.
Moreover, it can help users save space. iOS9 is 3.5x smaller compared to previous iOS releases. This will give extra storage to users. Other additions include a new look for Apple Pay's front page and a new navigation to search, USA Today has learned. This time instead of swiping down to get to the search bar, one can also swipe left and look at the stuff on his iOS device.
The search feature has been expanded to include web searches. For instance, searching for president Barack Obama will redirect the user to his Wikipedia page and typing for letters will brought one to the apps that are frequently accessed by the users.
Moreover, the device's Maps is also enhanced to include Transit and Nearby. With Transit one will be presented public transit information with routes and directions. As for Nearby, one will see a list of categories like Food, Drinks, Shopping, Fun and more, which will provide a list of the popular restaurants or cafes in the area.
