The Rolex Submariner and Rolex Sea Dweller are two of the truly exceptional sports models that make the Rolex. For divers, these two models have taken the brand 'Rolex' to new heights, or should we say, in depth. Both models are known all over the world for their ability to perform deep underwater. Important difference between the two models is the presence of a one-way gas-avoiding valve against the crown embedded in the C-dealer. This feature is included to protect the watch from internal pressures, which are made when going into the diving chambers. Deep sea divers use helium / oxygen mixes in their tanks, which can easily rotate clock crystals.

However, during decompression, helium particles do not come out of the clock, thus, blowing the crystal off the clock. The gas escape valve was the solution to this problem, which has proven to be extremely useful. The existing C-Dweller models feature a large and improved gas escape valve. How is sea living different from a submariner?

The main difference between the two is in their depth rating. Although the maximum depth of the current submarine model is 300 meters or 1000 feet, the current versions of the C Dweller can comfortably go underwater to a depth of 4000 feet (all models had a depth of 2000 feet). As a result, submariners are the choice of amateur and recreational divers while professional divers go to the oceans. Underwater treasure hunters also wear marine inhabitants.

You will also find that the sea is larger than the submarine. This is mainly due to the thick sapphire crystals that make the former 4mm thicker than the latter. Thick crystals also lead to another notable difference between them. Although the c-dweller shows history, it does not feature a Cyclops lens (magnifying lens). Thick crystals don't allow such magnifying lenses.

To what extent is the ocean similar to a submarine?

Both models have some features. The great similarity between the two is their ability to survive underwater without impairing their functioning. In addition, there are many other aspects where the two are the same. For example, you can find the following features in both models

  • Scratch resistant synthetic sapphire crystal
  • Indirect bezel is capable of turning clockwise only to prevent accidental movement of the diverting bezel.
  • The new triplek system now features a triple gasket system that slips firmly against the case tube and against the defeated case. It offers another layer of underwater protection
  • Self-propelled motor with a permanent motor
  • Made of any solid block of 904L stainless steel (a stainless steel alloy that is completely corrosion resistant) or gold.
  • The Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller are similar in many ways, but the Sea Dweller is a bigger, heavier and tougher brother to the Submariner. Go for a submarine, if you are into recreational diving, however, for the true professional and commercial divers, the choice of living at sea should be.
