Wouldn't it be nice if you could just escape? Don't you want to just get away for a few days and yourself free from distractions and responsibilities? Lots of moms feel that way on occasion but immediately cast the idea out of their minds for fear of being selfish. The truth, however, is that sometimes taking a few days to yourself to recharge and rejuvenate can be the best thing that you do for you and your kids.

It's Okay to Get Away

Whether you believe it or not, the house will not catch fire, the kids will not kill each other, and no one is going to call you a bad mom if you take a few days to vacation. It gives you time to take a break from your daily responsibilities and tap into some things that make you feel good.

Does a mom vacation sound like something you really need right now? Here are some tips on how to plan your next getaway.

Choose a Date

Free time is likely something that has to be created when you're a busy mom, but it's not impossible. It's time to move some things around so you can practice self-care. You can take time off work and use some vacation days or you can plan a simple weekend trip. Whichever works best for your finances and schedule.

Look for a Sitter

Family vacations are fun (and therapeutic) but this time it's all about mom. So, make sure you have a sitter in mind to watch the kids. If you're married, in a relationship, or co-parenting, you may be able to ask your significant other or co-parent to watch the kids for you while you're away. If not, you can ask family members or friends. Since you'll be gone overnight (or for a few days) you want the kids to be with someone they're comfortable with. (This will keep your stress at bay as well.)

Set a Budget

Of course, you shouldn't spend a ton of money on a mom getaway unless you have it to spare. The good news, however, is that you can take a vacation on just about any budget. If you have a savings account, it would be most ideal to take money from it to afford your trip. If not, however, be sure that you've reviewed your household budget to discern how much you can afford to spend.

Book Your Trip

You've made room in your schedule for yourself, you've got someone to watch the kids while you're away, and you know how much you can afford to spend. Now it's time to book your trip. Whether you're going to do an overnight trip to a hotel in the next town or you plan on hitting some tropical climate for the next week, you can use online tools like vacation planning websites to help you get the best deals on hotels, airfare, and rental cars.

Pack Your Bags

All this excitement of planning a mom getaway has likely got you anxious to pack those bags. Of course, you know to bring things like the appropriate clothes, shoes, and toiletries, but there are a few other things you should pack for your mom vacation. Bring a good book to get lost in while you're away. If you're into THC, hemp, or other oils you might want to search vape pen reviews and bring along something like Kandy vape pens to help relax the mind and body. Pamper yourself on vacation by also packing some bath salts, essential oils, and your favorite bubble bath so you can kick back and relax.

Create Your Itinerary

What do you plan on doing while you're away? Sure you're going to do some resting and relaxing, but now is the time to do things you really enjoy or have always wanted to try. You don't have to overdo it on the activities during your mom getaway but you do want to get out and explore a bit. You get to meet new people, tap into things that make you smile, and learn something new. Do some research on wherever you're traveling to and get an idea of things to do. If you're looking for free and/or affordable options try parks and beaches, museums and historical sites, or community events.

Being a mom is an honor, but that doesn't mean it isn't without some trials and tribulations. One of the biggest issues is finding time for self-care. Do yourself and your family a favor and start planning getaways exclusively for mom that allow you some time to rest, recharge, and explore. Doing this even once a year can make you a healthier and happier mom.
