Britney Spears is disappointed and angry about the new custody arrangement between her and ex-husband Kevin Federline. On March 5, Spears' and Federline's 14-year-old son Jayden did an Instagram live and called out his grandfather Jamie Spears for being abusive and laying his hands on him.
In August 2019, a police report obtained by US Weekly showed that Sean felt unsafe when they visited his grandfather in California. The teen locked himself in a room but Jaime Spears was able to break in and shook him.
After the allegations, Kevin Federline filed a restraining order against Jamie Spears, which made the court alter their original custody agreement of 50/50. In September 2019, the pop star has 30% custody rights on their sons and Federline has 70%.
The "Toxic" singer is not happy about this change, as she is already spending less time with her sons and sources told US Weekly that she tried her hardest to keep her father away from her sons.
"Britney hasn't been spending time with her dad, and very much remains angry that she doesn't have the boys as much as she did in the past," the source said. "Jamie worries about her not having a set schedule for work that keeps her busy."
Jamie Spears has been the singer's conservator since 2007. However, he suspended his role in 2019 after he suffered a ruptured colon and had to focus on his health, so he passed the duties to the singer's care manager, Jodi Montgomery.
Britney Spears custody battle
The "Womanizer" singer and Federline tied the knot in 2004 and split up in 2006. Since Spears' and Federline's divorce in 2007, they've shared 50/50 custody on their two sons, Sean and 13-year-old Jayden, and was able to work on co-parenting.
In January 2008, Federline was given sole custody of their sons after the singer's infamous mental breakdown that resulted in her being admitted and given psychiatric treatment. In June 2008, Federline and Spears agreed to a settlement in which the reality star was able to keep his sole custody of their sons while Spears was given two visits and one overnight every week.
Although the former couple went through a bitter phase after Federline asked for an increase in child support payments and they avoided each other on Sean's baseball game, the reality star said that they got over their differences and are focusing on being parents to their sons.
In April 2019, Federline agreed to look after their children while the singer focused on her mental health. Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told The Blast ""Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking the reasonable steps to deal with her situation in a responsible way."
Spears' new love
Her relationship with her ex-husband may not have been all pleasant, but Spears has happily moved on to a new man. Fitness model and aspiring actor Sam Ashgari met Spears after he played as her love interest in the music video for the song Slumber Party.
In November 2016, the pair started posting their pictures together on their Instagram accounts and in March 2017, they officially came out as a couple. Rumors about their engagement started after Spears was seen with a massive diamond ring on the red carpet of the movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in July 2019 but nothing has been confirmed yet.
