Check Out This Mother's Discovery About Her Daughter; 'Her Smile Was A Missed Sign'

Vanessa, a mother of three who lives in the U.K., noticed something was wrong in her daughter, and she discovered this problem weeks after she was born.

Vanessa shared that she noticed that her daughter Emmy, did not look like her sister Charlotte when she was born. Although it might be possible for sisters and sibling to not look like each other, in Emmy's case, her physique was so much different than anyone in the family.

According to Vanessa, Emmy was more like a small baby where her eyes were closed, but she was showing off a huge smile. For the mother of three, she was surprised at how Emmy looked because for a baby, smiling all the time is not really a normal thing for them to do.

Vanessa also added that she noticed something odd with Emmy's fingers. She revealed that her daughter's pinky fingers were turned inwards. Confused as she is, she turned to her daughter's doctors and got more shocked by what the doctors told her. The doctors said she was only "looking for things" that are not there.

Startled and confused with what is happening to her daughter, Vanessa did her own research and typed in the odd signs that she noticed in her daughter. She then found out that the reason behind Emmy's fingers facing inwards is it was a sign of several syndromes. However, for Vanessa, she is more concerned about why the doctors did not see these signs and did not flag this to her when she gave birth to Emmy.

Vanessa was also told by the medical staff who assisted her that she is only being 'absurd'. After eight days of being in the hospital, Vanessa was more surprised when her baby was discharged with a perfect score.

Vanessa did not stop at that point when she received the discharge results because she felt that something was up with her daughter. With doubts in her heart and confusion in her mind, she brought Emmy to a cardiologist, where she was told that her daughter might have the syndrome.

Emmy was diagnosed with Williams syndrome, which is a common syndrome since birth that is characterized by learning problems, heart problems, and a distinctive facial feature. In 2013, Emmy's syndrome had her sent to the hospital a couple of times in a row because of the complications that she had from her heart surgery. She went into two cardiac arrests in the recovery room in the same year and was put in life support for one week.

According to Vanessa, Emmy has been doing great lately and is doing pretty much well, but as a mother, she is afraid of what the future will bring to her daughter who will most probably be living with the syndrome for the rest of her life.

Vanessa also shared how she loves to spend all her time with Emmy, and that her special days with her daughter are not some big trips to Disneyland, but on normal, rainy days at home, snuggling on their couch. She also shared how Emmy brings so much joy in their lives and how she stays silent during dinner but when she blurts out a joke, she just leaves everyone laughing. Emmy is loved by her whole family and she is one lucky girl to have them.

The Williams syndrome has made Emmy struggle in developing her motor skills, such as having difficulties in holding things. This is because of her weak muscles. Some people would also have misconceptions that children who have this type of syndrome are always assumed to be happy people, but just like Emmy, they also struggle in handling different emotions despite the facial features they show.
