Royal family members address each other by their full names in public per royal protocol. However, off-cam they have the freedom to choose any nickname to use. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry call each other cute and unique nicknames of "M" and "H".
As reported in People in February 2020, the Sussex couple calls each other with their initials "M" and "H". Meghan and Harry act like newlyweds being "besotted and very sweet with each other", according to one source. The source was reminded of when the couple has just gotten married on May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel inside Windsor Castle.
Noone confirmed of hearing the nickname "M", but Meghan blurted out that she does call the Duke of Sussex "H".
Meghan Markle Called Prince Harry "H"
This is not the first time that the media has heard about Meghan's nickname for Harry. When their documentary "Meghan and Harry: An African Journey" was aired in October 2019, the public learned a lot of things about the Sussex couple, and one of that is the "H" nickname that Meghan calls Harry.
During a one-on-one interview with Tom Bradby, Meghan proudly admitted to not being happy with the way she is being scrutinized while at the same time sharing her nickname of the prince.
She said that "I have said for a long time to H - that's what I call him - it's not enough to just survive something. That's not the point of life." She added that a person has got to thrive. And a person has to feel happy.
Meghan Markle Has Another Nickname for Prince Harry
Besides "H", the Duchess of Sussex has another nickname to call her husband. During a photo shoot with the cast of "Hamilton" after the special performance of the hit musical, Meghan asked Harry, thinking that his views were being blocked, "Can you see, my love?" which caused an uproar from the cast of members.
Everyone reacted with their "aws" that made Meghan exclaimed with "Oh!" as Harry laughed while blushing.
Not one has yet heard what Harry calls Meghan when they are in private. But certainly, Harry would have replied to Meghan sweetly to show his affection.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Calls Archie Nicknames
Not only does the Sussex couple have nicknames for one another, but their son Archie is also labeled with pet names other than his first name.
On an Instagram post in October 2019, the couple called their son "little pumpkin" to celebrate the Halloween season. Meghan also called Archie "bubba" while they were touring Africa, and Harry called him his "little boy".
Royal Family Members Call Each Other Nicknames
Other royal families also give nicknames to one another. Kate Middleton has been heard calling her children "poppet" while at play. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge lovingly call each other "babe" and "darling". And even Prince Philip calls Queen Elizabeth, his wife of 70 years, "Cabbage".
It seems that Prince Harry has likened being given nicknames because it reminds him of when his mom gave Prince William a nickname. Princess Diana used to call his brother "wombat" which originated when they went to Australia because that was their local animal.
