Amy Schumer Changed Her Son's Name Since It Sounded Like "Genital"

Amy Schumer changed her son, Gene Attell's name, because she said that it sounded like "genital." She gave the middle name to honor her close friend and fellow comic Dave Attell.

The comedian shared on podcast "3 Girls, 1 Keith," that she has officially changed her son's second name from Attell to David. The 38-year-old star said that her mom pointed it out to her, and she realized that she is right.

Schumer and her husband discussed the matter with Attell, and they decided to change their son's name to David instead. Attell, 55, played as the homeless best friend Noah to Schumer in the movie Trainwreck.

She added that David is also the middle name of her father Gordon Schumer, so it is like hitting two birds with one stone. The first name of her son "Gene" was to honor the late actor Gene Wilder.

How Her Son Changed Her

Schumer told Entertainment Tonight in an interview in November that her son Gene has changed her "in a million ways," especially her relationship with her mom.

She said that she became more courteous to her mom now that she is one. She also added that both she and her husband were shocked to know that they could love someone so much.

Amy Schumer Undergoing IVF

Earlier this year, Schumer posted a photo of her bruised stomach on her Instagram and said that she was feeling "run down." She added that she was undergoing in vitro fertilization to give her an 11-month-old son, either a brother or a sister. They are freezing her eggs, and she is asking for advice on what's best to do.

Many celebrities showed their support. Selena Gomez said that she is praying for them, while Katie Couric gave her a push saying "You got this mama" and sent her lots of love.

Even though Schumer had many struggles during her pregnancy with Gene, it is evident that she is loving being a mother.

Amy Schumer Learns to Cook

Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer, a chef and cookbook author, got married in February 2018 in Malibu. They welcomed their son a year after. Schumer recently announced that her husband would appear in her new show for the Food Network, where he will try to teach his wife to cook. The series will be shot by themselves as they continue to self-isolate during the pandemic.

The show will take 30 minutes, focusing on themes such as taco night and pasta night. Schumer will be the one responsible for cocktail-making as she watches and possibly helps her husband cook "farm-fresh ingredients." There is no advice about whether their son will make a cameo appearance yet.

The president of Food Network, Courtney White, told Variety that Schumer and Fisher would give an unprecedented look at their lives as they self-quarantine.
