On Thursday, Netflix teases fans with their new original superhero show by releasing photos of Jessica Jones, Luck Cage and the rest of the cast. The photos feature the first look of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage for the fall television series.

The other photos feature David Tennant, who plays Kilgrave a.k.a. "Purple Man," and Ritter with Rachel Taylor, who plays as Trish Walker a.k.a. Hellcat, IGN reports.
According to MTV, the photos suggest a dark and tense mood that fits perfectly to the story of Jessica Jones, who is down on her luck, a former superhero trying to meet both ends by being a private detective.
Here are the top five things we know about Jessica Jones, according to TIME:
1. Jessica Jones is an orphan with superpowers.
She was with her family from a trip to Disney World when on their way home, a military convoy carrying radioactive chemicals collided with their car. She was the only one who survived in the accident and was in coma for a while. When she woke up, she discovered her super-strenght powers and ability to fly.
2. She has a posse
Just like any normal person the newest female superhero has her group of associates. Jessica has a love interest in the person of his fellow superhero Luke Cage. She finds a confidante in Trish Walker, a former model-turned-talk show host. In the comics, Walker is also the superhero Hellcat.
Jessica is also tied to other Marvel characters like Spider-Man, whom she reportedly have a crush. It's not clear if Spider-Man will be featured in the series.
3. Her show is part of Netflix's Defender series.
"The Defenders" is a sort of on-the-street version of "The Avengers. " Daredevil is the first in the series, Jessica Jones comes next. They will later be joined by Luke Cage and Iron Fists. When the four series is done, Netflix plans to bring all four together in a "Defenders" series.
4. She's part of the female superhero revolution.
Jessica Jones comes first in line, but Captain Marvel movie will follow in 2018. DC has their Supergirl TV show, which will premiere on October and a "Wonder Woman" movie in 2017.
5. Her story is rated R.
Jessica Jones first appeared in the Alias comic book series (not the Alias show starring Jennifer Garner). Alias is a more mature character in the Marvel comic books. Netflix will stay true to the comics by promoting the show as a psychological thriller.
