There has been a number of speculations about the upcoming flick "Deadpool" which suggests the growing popularity of the film. Recent reports suggest that a Russian mutant will be substantial in the movie.
Colossus, the strongest member of the "X-Men" team who can morph himself into a strong metallic form will have a significant influence in the storyline of "Deadpool" as confirmed by the movie creator Rob Liefeld.
During a Q&A session at the recent Amazing Hawaii Comic-Con Liefeld talks about Colossus' importance in the film. "You guys have seen a glimpse of him in the trailer; at San Diego in Hall H, they showed a little bit more of Colossus...You are going to love Colossus in Deadpool. He's in it a good amount; he doesn't just walk through the movie," he said.
According to CinemaBlend, this suggests that the Russian behemoth will not just appear in a cameo role to stimulate "X-Men" fans. The character which was previously portrayed by Daniel Cudmore, appeared in several variations of the "X-Men" franchise but without a significant contribution to the plot.
In fact, according to the report, "Deadpool" will be the first Fox produced Marvel film, which will feature the significant impact of Colossus in the overall narrative of the story. Those who attended San Diego Comic-Con or saw the leaked footage online know that the titular superhero has some "humorously vulgar quips to make about Colossus."
Aside from teasing fans that Colossus will be a valuable character in "Deadpool," the creator also praised the appearance of the superhero. He shared the painstaking effort they have to go through to maintain his aesthetic appearance.
Moreover, Liefeld warns fans not to expect a direct adaptation of any specific storylines despite "Deadpool's" being a distillation of the core traits of its titular character because Deadpool and Colossus do not have a rich history of stories together to draw from. Thus, more likely what the audience will see on the big screens is something they haven't read in its comic book counterpart.
ScreenRants reports that it's not surprising for the Merc With a Mouth to collide with the universe that was established by Bryan Singer's film. The collision will come when the titular superhero encounters the massive metal mutant, Colossus.
"Deadpool" is played by Ryan Reynolds aka Wade Wilson, a former special operative who, after being diagnosed with cancer was transformed into the titular superhero. He is a mercenary equipped with "accelerated healing powers, a disfigured complexion, and a dark and twisted sense of humor."
"Deadpool" will hit the big screens on Feb. 12, 2016.
