Left only with his baby and their older child now, Ramath Mzpeh Warith recounts how wonderful their life was before the coronavirus pandemic.
Last May, Warith and his wife Sierra tested positive for the coronavirus. That is when the life of the Warith family started to take a turn. Sierra was pregnant with their second child during that time.
What pains Ramath, even more, is when after his wife gave birth, she died due to the complications brought by the coronavirus.
The couple battling against Coronavirus
Sierra had chronic asthma, even before experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus. When she experienced a sore throat and had a fever, she decided to go to the local hospital. She has been staying at the hospital since May.
Ramath also tested positive with the coronavirus. However, he recovered earlier.
The second baby of the Wariths was delivered via C-section last June 13. Sierra did not survive and was not able to see their child. According to Ramath, she died one day short of her 24th birthday.
The father believes that despite what happened, everything is still part of God's plans. He said, "I feel like God kept her alive just long enough to deliver him."
The father's grief
Now that Ramath is left with their children, he says he is taking things slow. According to him, "Just overabundance of fear, not knowing what tomorrow is going to bring because it was so dire."
Ramath believes that he and his wife had a wonderful life, which he promised he would share with his children.
He remembers his wife as a joyful woman. It has always been the mother's dream to raise their children. Sierra was still in college and was taking classes at the Cuyahoga Community College.
Right now, Ramath still feels broken because of what happened to his wife. However, he gathers his strength from his children and the people who have been supporting their family.
A GoFundMe page has been set-up for the Wariths. As of writing, the goal of collecting $10,000 has been surpassed. More than 20,000 dollars of funds are now collected from 153 donors.
According to the GoFundMe page, Sierra has been through many obstacles, but she still manages to encourage others.
Call to the public
Because of what happened to his wife, Ramath calls for the public to take the coronavirus seriously. He said, "This is real-wife, mother, 23 years old."
Warith believes that his wife has a whole life ahead of her. It was only until the coronavirus took a toll on their lives when they felt that things are no longer in their proper places.
Ramath says the coronavirus should not be something that others would consider as a joke.
