Fatherhood is already challenging, but being a celebrity dad is even tougher. For Ryan Reynolds, the star of "Deadpool," he learned just how tough it is the hard way.
The actor, who is married to actress Blake Lively, revealed in a feature on GQ Magazine that a friend has betrayed his trust because he had been looking for ways to sell photos of Ryan's daughter, James.
"A guy that I'd known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around," the actor told the men's magazine and compared the betrayal to death. After all this was his friend for over 25 years.
"I don't think he thought he would ever be caught. But it's a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to. They're just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: 'Here's us in the delivery room!'" Ryan added.
Ryan believes his friend did it for money and right there, he decided to drop the friend from his life. "There isn't really a conversation to have. It's just, 'Oh, well, now I'm never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.' That's kind of how it worked out."
Meanwhile, Ryan and Blake remain extremely private about sharing photos of their baby even as they are quite active on social media. In fact, the actor has only learned to share photos of James' fingers on his Instagram account, such as this one, which he has captioned: "Thumb wrestling isn't always fair. Curiously, my hand is the small one."
Blake once shared a photo of her breastfeeding on her Instagram account, with the baby's face strategically cropped off the picture:
The couple are raising their nine-month-old daughter without the benefit of a nanny despite their busy schedules. "I have no problem waking up five times in the middle of the night and changing diapers, and as exhausted as you get, I have this stupid grin on my face all the time," the actor related to GQ. However, the "Green Lantern" star said even with the challenges he loves fatherhood and having a daughter. "I would like to have more kids. It seems to suit me pretty well," he went on to say in the interview.
But Ryan is careful not to be so overly enthusiastic about becoming a first-time parent. "Everyone thinks their baby is a genius. People find it delightfully refreshing when I tell them, 'My baby? Totally average. Like, 100 percent average,'" he told People Magazine once.
