On Monday, a Florida dad put an end to his life after killing his daughter. It turns out that the daughter is terminally ill.
The Florida dad was identified as Kenbian Ng, and his daughter's name is Angela.
The mom of the 11-year-old girl was making breakfast when she heard gunshots fired. It was the mom who saw her daughter dead. According to reports, the mom is still distraught with what happened to her family. Angela is the couple's only daughter.
11-year-old daughter's health condition
Family members shared with the Sun-Sentinel that the 11-year-old daughter had cancer in her femur (the bone within the human thigh). She had been undergoing chemotherapy.
Angela was scheduled for amputation on August 28. Incidentally, that day is the couple's 27th wedding anniversary.
Despite the scheduled amputation, relatives said that there was very little hope for the 11-year-old daughter to survive.
A relative of the family said that a few months ago when they contacted the family, the Florida dad was very emotional and could barely speak. The relative said, "He just cried."
Police reports
The Davie Police Department investigated the incident. According to the police spokesperson, Lt. Mark Leone, investigation disclosed that the 11-year-old daughter was not getting any better.
Leone describes the murder-suicide as devastating. He said, "It's a lose-lose situation."
Florida dad's Facebook page
On the Facebook page, the Florida dad has posted multiple photos of his 11-year-old daughter. He shared one where Angela is wearing a martial arts uniform.
They also have photos where the entire family was happily posing together.
According to reports, the father had held executive positions in different refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning companies.
Murder-suicide cases explained by a psychologist.
In the Sun-Sentinel report, a psychologist named Scott Eliason mentioned that a caregiver's murder-suicide is usually rare.
The psychologist explained that it is possible that the caregiver (in this case, the Florida dad) is worn out and got depressed.
He said that this could be called caregiver burnout. When this happens, the person who takes care of the terminally ill loved one feels worried about abandoning them. That is when the murder happens.
