American Moms Work for 98 Hours a Week, a Study Reveals

An American mom works for 98 hours per week. That is what a recent research reveals about the average mom's work hours. That is more than twice the average working hours per week at 39 hours.

The study was commissioned by Welch's. A total of 2,000 moms in the United States were surveyed. All of these moms have children ages five to twelve years old.

Result of the study

The study looked into the busy schedules of moms. The results reveal that, on average, an American mom starts their active mom's work hours at 6:23 am. Whether it is parent-related or career-related, a mom's work hours do not stop until 8:31 in the evening.

It is like having 14 hours of shift, which is equivalent to 98 hours of work per week.

If the mom is lucky, she gets one hour and seven minutes of break or me-time.

According to the RD and Health Nutrition Lead of Welch's., Casey Lewis, "The results of the survey highlight just how demanding the role of mom can be and the non-stop barrage of tasks it consists of."

Also included in the study are findings that moms felt pressured in feeding their families. Almost 72 percent of the surveyed moms said they feel a lot of struggle to have their families eat healthy snacks and meals.

However, there are considered life-savers for moms that the study also explored.

The study also shows the top 20 life-savers of the American moms. These life-savers or help for moms are not just small things, but also people who become reliable when the situation calls for them.

According to Lewis, this help for moms makes a lot of difference in the busy mom's work hours. Lewis explained, "Anything that can be done to make mom's life a little bit easier can make all the difference, whether it's a well-timed, healthy snack, a small glass of 100% fruit juice or simply the chance to grab a nap."

The biggest life-savers for American moms in their busy work hours are surprisingly wet wipes and yoga pants. A trusted babysitter is always a reliable person to ask for help when things get a little busy.

Some of the help for mom's work hours include handing an iPad to a kid, opting to have drive-thru meals, and divulging into an hour of Netflix and chill.

Other help for mom work hours are:

  • the constant supply of coffee
  • napping whenever possible
  • a compelling angry voice.
  • The grandparents.
