Newlywed Ohio Couple Donates Reception Food to a Shelter
A newlywed Ohio couple decided to share their reception food to a shelter for women. Tyler and Melanie Tapajna chose to spend their special day to spread love despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Because the Ohio couple has already paid for the food, they chose not to put it into waste.
The Ohio couple's wedding
The couple's wedding has been set on August 15. They initially planned to invite dozens of guests to their special day. However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, they realized that it was not a wise decision to make any more.
The Ohio couple held an intimate wedding with a few of their loved ones.
The reception food, though, was already paid in advance. That is when Melanie and Tyler decided that they should share the food to a shelter.
After exchanging vows, the Ohio couple went to The City Mission's Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center. They were the ones who served the food to the people at the shelter. The couple did this while wearing their wedding attires and, of course, facemasks.
The couple chooses to spread love.
A wedding is one of the most memorable days in a person's life. For the Ohio couple, their wedding will not only be unique for they have sealed their love for each other but because they know they made other people happy.
In an interview with the TODAY, Melanie said, "Why not spread the love? Seeing everybody happy is making us happy."
The couple also made quite an impression to the community that they shared their reception food with on their wedding day. The City Mission's CEO, Richard Trickel, said, "I just thought 'Holy cow, what an unselfish, wonderful idea."
The City Mission's Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center is a shelter for homeless women and children. Currently, around 145 single women, mothers, and their children are housed in the shelter.
The newlywed couple keeps on giving.
It only seemed proper that the newlywed couple shared with the women in the shelter. According to reports, they have been active givers to the community, ever since they met in 2016.
According to TODAY, the newlywed couple has been donating to nonprofits every year, and as their first meaningful cause as husband and wife, they decided to make it on their wedding day.
Feeding the children and the women and the children at the shelter was the highlight of the newlywed couple's wedding.
For the groom, aside from getting married, it was the smiles that came during their wedding that he finds the most pleasant.
