The Mindy Project Season 4 Spoilers & Recap: Mindy, Danny Welcome Baby Leo, Kaling Says Character's 'A Great Mom'

Another character joins the cast of "The Mindy Project" season 4, and his entrance is no ordinary. He will be the next big thing to Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina).

Mindy and Danny welcomed their first born on "The Mindy Project's" Sept. 22 episode, a week after they were engaged. The pair named their son Baby Leo, who is either named after Leonardo DiCaprio or Leonardo Da Vinci, depending on which parent one asks, E! Online reports.

Baby Leo will definitely have a big impact to the couple who are now officially parents. For fans who are concerned whether Baby Leo's arrival will have a negative impact in the show, Kaling herself assured that fans need not fret about the said issue.

"A lot of people have been questioning how a baby will change the dynamic, and honestly, if anything it's given her a surprising depth as an actress to now play," she explained. "Because she loves something else more than she loves herself."

That speaks a lot about Mindy's parenting. For those wondering what type of mother Mindy will be, Kaling said, "She's a great mom. We've written her as an incredibly fierce, loving mom." Kaling added that Mindy is the type of mom who looks at her baby and thinks like "Oh, he'll be a model." Mindy wants to be a staged mom and would wish her son to be an actor or be involved in TV shows.

On the other hand, Kaling recognized that Mindy's life right now is close to perfection, but they will be throwing a few hurdles for her character to make things unpredictable as Kaling puts it, "She can't have a great job, a great boyfriend, have these awesome clothes, and just get everything she wants in a normal timeframe, otherwise you'd be like, 'I hate her. She has too happy of a life.' So we try to throw her off as much as we can," Inquisitr has learned.

Executive producer Matt Warburton supported Kaling's statement saying that they will be giving her the things she wanted in an inconvenient time. He teased that Mindy will be the "most annoying fiancée in the world but she has so much other stuff going on it's almost spoiled for her sometimes."

Warburton also revealed that parenthood will highlight Mindy and Danny's differences. The new parents will need to deal with each other's annoying personality. When Mindy is annoying, Danny will be annoyed and he will be annoyed even more on behalf of their son. They will argue on what type of music they will expose Baby Leo to and some other petty things.

"The Mindy Project" season 4 airs every Tuesday on Hulu.
