1 in 66,000: Son, Mom, and Grandmother Share the Same Birthday

A grandmother, mother, and newborn son share the same birthday, beating 66,000 to one odds.

Baby Jaxon Owen was born on September 27, 2020, a week earlier than the due date. He weighed 7lb 5oz. His 38-year-old mother, Amy, was also born on the same day, September 27, 1982. What makes it even more amazing is that Jaxon's grandmother, Wendy, 55, was born on the same day, as well, in 1965.

Amy has a 4-year-old son, Jacob, with her 42-year-old husband Scott, a construction site manager. The mother, who hails from Birkenhead, Merseyside in England, could not believe that such a rare occurrence would happen to them. She said it had happened before in two generations, but she never heard of it happening in three generations.

She wasn't expecting it at all

"It was unbelievable," Amy added, considering that she and her mother were early by a week or two, much like little Jaxon was. "Even though my due date was around my birthday," she told The Sun, "boys tend to go over." Hence, she wasn't expecting that she will deliver on the day of her birthday.

Even though Amy was already near her due date, she went about her routine. It also happened that it was her other child's first day at school, so she made sure that she was there to pick up the boy for his first day. She recalled that was when she got home that she didn't feel too well.

When she woke up the next morning, she felt she is already going into slow labor and soon was rushed to the hospital. And so, instead of going out for a meal for her 38th birthday, they spent the day at the Arrowe Park Hospital, where she gave birth at around 10 a.m.

"We've all got the same star sign!" she proudly declared, "Both me and my mum are classic Libras." Fair but can be indecisive is how she described their common traits. As for her son, she said it is a bit too early to tell, but she said, "I'm sure we'll see resemblance soon!"

She said that she and her mother used to have joint parties, but as she got older, they celebrated birthday separately. She never thought of sharing the same birthday with her son, though. "What with everything going on," she said, "I'm so keen to do a big party for the three of us."

Due to the pandemic, friends and family only got to see him virtually, so she said it would be nice to have a get-together on their next birthday. She said that people are used to getting her and her mother the same present because they celebrate on the same day. However, "I don't think they'll be able to do it with him," she said.

Although she was in a lot of pain during the first half of her birthday, being in labor for 12 hours, seeing her newborn for the first time, made it all worth it. She said it was the best feeling. "He was the best birthday present!"
