Disney's most recent Christmas advertisement focuses on family. The advertisement has been dubbed by reports as a tear-jerker video.
According to Somesetlive, the video is focused on family and traditions. The tear-jerker video runs for three minutes and since its upload, it already has hundreds of thousands of views.
This year, Disney is partnering with Make-A-Wish for every purchase that will be made from The Disney Store.
The tear-jerker video
The video has two main characters, the first one is the grandmother, and the second one is her granddaughter.
The tear-jerker video starts with a flashback to 1940 when the grandmother received her Mickey Mouse (plush toy). The young grandmother in the video was happy to receive the toy as a Christmas gift.
After the flashback, the Mickey Mouse toy symbolized each year in the life of the grandmother, until she already had a grandchild.
The granddaughter always joined her grandmother in their yearly Christmas traditions. That also led to a small surprise of the granddaughter to her grandma on Christmas day.
The surprise was a well-decorated home that was nostalgic for the grandmother as it looked like her community during Christmas when she was younger.
Disney says that their goal in producing the video is to inspire their supporters, "Our goal was to tell a universal story that inspires through the themes of family, love and special holiday traditions. We hope that Disney fans enjoy the short."
Supporting Make-A-Wish
Although Christmas will be a little different this year due to the pandemic, Disney fans are still given something to look forward to this year.
The limited-edition vintage Mickey Mouse plush toy that was featured in Disney's Christmas advertisement may be purchased at the Disney Store or ShopDisney.co.uk.
For every purchase of the Mickey Mouse plush toy, the Make-A-Wish organizations will benefit from it.
Disney's Christmas advertisement soundtrack
Adding to the tear-jerker video is the soundtrack of the advertisement, "Love is A Compass."
The song was performed by Griff, a UK artist and an Ivor Novello Rising Star Nominee. The song was written by Parkwild.
Aside from the proceeds from the plush toy, Make-A-Wish, there is something else that could be done to donate. Downloading the track will also be beneficial to Make-A-Wish since one hundred percent of the sales of the retail price will also be donated.
Disney and Make-A-Wish
For 40 years, Disney has been partnering with Make-A-Wish foundations.
According to an officer from Disney, "Christmas is a time for giving and giving back, and we're delighted to debut this festive ad campaign supporting our long-term charity partner Make-A-Wish."
