A couple from Minnesota reveals their secret on how to lose weight together. Stephanie Engblom and her husband, Brandon, were on a journey to losing weight since the opening of the year 2020.
They started with simple changes, and those simple changes led to their combined weight loss of almost 200 pounds.
The beginning of the couple's journey to lose weight
The couple woke up one day and realized that they are their lowest lows. Both Stephanie and Brandon weighed more than 300 pounds.
The wife shared with TODAY that during that time, her husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and her body kept on aching every day.
The 25-year-old wife said, "We needed to make a change if we wanted to live a long, happy, healthy life together and maybe someday start a family."
The Minnesota couple lost almost 200 pounds. Stephanie lost 116 pounds, and the husband lost more than 80.
In knowing the perfect way on how to lose weight, the couple did not take any shortcuts like a fancy diet or intense exercise.

The couple's way on how to lose weight
Since Stephanie has gone through being overweight most of her life, she has tried many kinds of diet, most of which did not work. That is why she and her husband thought that in knowing the perfect way on how to lose weight, they should be able to find a way that would be sustainable for both of them.
Stephanie said, "We wanted this to be something where we could not only see results immediately."
The couple made small changes that they were sure they could stick with for a long time.
The small changes
In the case of Stephanie, she had to cut out sugar and replaced it with lower-calorie options.
The couple looked for alternatives, especially with their favorite foods.
For example, instead of using beef, they choose to cook or eat chicken or turkey.
Stephanie shared, "We use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and a little bit less cheese with more veggies."
If Stephanie cuts out her sugar intake, Brandon, on the other hand, focused on taking in protein. He said that it was a difficult thing to do but he knew he could do it. He said, "You can have really good meals that are based heavily (on) different types of protein and not feel like you're missing out or depriving yourself of a meal you (really) want to have."
Weight-loss partners
Aside from taking small changes, another way the couple shared on how to lose weight is by becoming weight-loss partners.
As partners, they made sure that they support each other in whatever way.
Stephanie says, "I feel like we've only gotten stronger together, and doing this with him has made it more possible than doing it alone."
Keep Moving
Instead of going through extreme workouts every day, the couple chose to just keep moving.
Another secret of the couple on how to lose weight is by walking a mile every day. They do this with their dog.
