A 91-year-old woman who ate plant soil was six hours from death, said the doctors. Thankfully, a bus driver who realized that the elderly missed a trip checked her out and saved her from death.
The Worcester News reported that Rosemary Frank was thankful to bus driver Derek Cowdry for saving her life. The driver found that Frank did not ride his trip to the hair salon that day, so he decided to check out what happened to her.
Driver finds a woman on the floor
The outlet reported that the 75-year-old driver found Frank lying on her bedroom floor. The 91-year-old had been there for two days, and she ate plant soil to keep living because she could not get up.
She told The Worcester News that Cowdry is her knight in shining armor because she would be dead if the bus driver had not gone out of his way to help her. She also explained to the outlet that she could not recall what exactly happened that day.
What happened?
Frank shared that the last thing she remembered was talking to her daughter, who is in Canada, on Sunday night. She explained that she did have a recollection of what happened for the past two days or how she injured herself.
Doctors found soil in the 91-year-old's stomach. Frank noted that she must have eaten them to survive. She said that she was very grateful for the plant that her son gifted to her.

Quick intuition and action
The bus driver told The Worcester News that he felt something was up when Frank did not show up on his trip that day. He decided to take action. When he knocked on the woman's door, there was no answer, so he tried to ask her neighbors if anyone had a key to Frank's house.
Cowdry explained that when he did find one who had the keys, he went inside and found Frank barely conscious on the floor. Immediately, he called an ambulance. Doctors noted that Frank was six hours away from death.
The woman was severely dehydrated and suffered from three fractures on her right wrist. Frank spent ten days in Worcestershire Royal Hospital and is now recovering at home with his son, Richard, and other caretakers, the outlet reported.
Richard, 60, said that he gave the Madagascar Dragon Tree to his mom because he was moving and had no room for it. He said that they believed that Frank tried to eat the soil to get nutrients and moisture because she was so dehydrated.
Worcester Wheels, the company where Cowdry was working, shared on a Facebook post about the driver's kindness and intuition. The bus driver noted to The Worcester News that he just did what he thinks anyone would have done. He is relieved that Frank is recovering well at home.
