Just recently, Apple released their newest operating system, iOS 9, and the said platform is already running on several iOS devices. However, since iOS 9 is still new, it is not entirely free from flaws and Apple knew this.
According to Yahoo! Tech, the operating system has certain bugs that can affect the device's performance, and older devices running iOS 9 might not be as fast as users expect them to be.
BGR showed a footage comparing iOS 9 against iOS 8.4.1 in all iPhone models that run iOS 9, and it showed that the new operating system is slower than iOS 8.4. But it shows an improved performance when it comes to Wi-Fi speed and browsing, according to the report.
However, do not fret. You can do a few things to combat lag and speed up iOS 9. OS X Daily revealed the three things users can do to turn iOS devices into a faster machine:
1. Disable transparency and motion effects - Go to Settings, General and then Accessibility. Find Increase Contrast and toggle on the Reduce Transparency option. Within Accesibility, one will also find the Reduce Motion option that needs to be toggled on as well.
2. Disable background app refresh - Go to Settings, General and then Background App Refresh. When found, turn the option off.
3. Disable Siri suggestions from the Settings app - Go to General, Spotlight Suggestions and turn Siri Suggestions off.
If in case, the options above don't work, the next radical approach to fixing the problem is downgrading to iOS 8.4.1 or one can wait for the next iOS 9.x build that will surely feature an improved performance.
On the other hand, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were both released this week and some critics have already shared their verdicts. In a separate report from Yahoo! Tech, David Pogue writes that iPhone 6s is not worth buying if one already owns an iPhone 6. However, Pogue stressed that the new device's improvement is better than what one can expect from a typical "S" upgrade.
"The speed and the 3D Touch features are the meat of the upgrade. The rest is just "s" gravy, but really delicious gravy," Pogue wrote. "Hey wait a minute. So Apple upgraded the screen, the glass, the aluminum, the processor, the camera, the Wi-Fi circuitry, the cellular...Come to think of it, maybe Apple really did change everything-just a bit."
Joanna Stern from The Wall Street Journal was not impressed and deemed iPhone 6S as a "slightly better iPhone 6." She was disappointed that Apple failed to deliver a more powerful battery.
However, according to The Verge, "It is the best iPhone ever made, and it is right now the best phone on the market."
