The highly-anticipated Apple Watch OS2 update is now released and available for download. However, some kinks were reported.
Apple's first wearable has been a hit, and users have been waiting for the highly-anticipated update to its software. Now that the Apple Watch OS2 has been released, many users have downloaded it, and some have reported problems about it.
In a forum on MacRumors, users who downloaded the update reported slow installation problems. One user was denied a download and was told by the updater that there's no internet connection, but was ironically able to post the problem on the website.
Other disappointed users have various reports: While some had to restart the process to make it work, a user named "Ant" was forced to restart the watch after every reboot after successfully installing the update. On the bright side, one happy user said that although there's nothing to see just yet, native apps now work faster.
For those who are struggling with the slow downloads, TechTimes says that in the coming days the situation will improve as less and less people hit Apple servers for the download.
The update can be obtained via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Open the app, tap General, and then Software Update. If an available update cannot be found, force quit the app, and then relaunch it. By that time, the update should be seen. Before updating, make sure that the watch it plugged into the charger and has at least a 50% charge.
Macworld reports that the watch OS2 gives users amazing features that make the watch worth having.
Third-party apps have gone native, giving developers access to the hardware capabilities of the watch.
New time-lapse faces have been installed, as well as the option to use photos or photo albums (with photos rotating each time the watch is lifted) as watch faces.
Mass transit details come with a map upgrade for the OS2.
Time Travel allows users to go back or forward in time to check past or future appointments, weather, and more.
NightStand mode enables users to use the watch as an alarm clock while charging. An option to keep the watch display on for 70 seconds has been added as well.
Activation Lock adds more security by tying the watch into a user's account, making sure it can't be used when stolen.
These are some of the features. There'll be more in the coming days as developers are now given more freedom to play with the watch.
If you have an Apple Watch, upgrade to OS2 now.
