Al Roker finally reunites with his three children for the first time this year. For them, it is the best Christmas gift ever to be with everyone back at home.
Al Roker of TODAY and his wife, Deborah Roberts, finally got together with their three children after a year apart. They reunited because their 22-year-old daughter, Leila, recently returned home after staying in Paris.
Roberts wanted to surprise her fans
Over the weekend, Roberts shared on Instagram Live the exciting news to surprise her followers. Initially, she pretended that she was catching up with her daughter for their Instagram series, "Call Your Mother."
The mom-of-three explained that many think about their family, and she has been thinking about Leila because she cherishes her family. She decided to have an impromptu Instagram Live with her daughter.
Roberts told Leila that everybody knows she misses her and could not wait to see her. The pair had a brief back and forth before Leila said she would hang up because she had to retrieve a food delivery.
Roberts revealed the prank to her fans when she was alone on the screen. She has had enough of Instagram Live. Then, she blurted that she could not wait to see her daughter. She surprised her followers by saying that Leila was there.
In the same room, Leila joined her mom, and the two hugged while wearing masks. Roberts called all of the family members into the frame. Husband Roker, daughter Courtney, and son Nick were also wearing masks when they joined the duo.
Sharing the best news ever with everyone
Roberts said that they wanted to share their best news ever of their family reconnection with everyone. She added that they were so thrilled that their holidays got a lot merrier.
Roker shared the clip on his Instagram account and added the caption, "The best #christmasgift ever." He also wrote that they did the tests and followed the mandatory wearing of masks to keep everyone safe. A few hours before, the weatherman also shared a reunion photo too.
Leila has been staying in France while studying abroad when the lockdown happened. She shared some experiences in October on TODAY. She has been doing the Instagram series with Roberts during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 22-year-old and her mom decided to get together because they want to share how it means to be apart. The duo believes that many people talk about the fun things that happened during quarantine and talk less about the hard parts.
Leila explained that it was hard for her because she has not seen her parents for almost one year. So she and her parents made sure to check in twice a month to get in touch with them.
