The pandemic is a challenging time to give birth. In hospitals, mothers are doing what they can to prevent infections and spreading the disease. Sophie Turner stands among mothers who choose to wear a protective mask even during childbirth.
Wearing Masks at the Grocery should be Easy
The "Game of Thrones" star recently posted an Instagram story with a new revelation. She shared how she wore a mask during delivery. "You can also wear a mask at Walmart," adds the first-time mom.
The actress and singer previously kept the pregnancy a secret. Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas' baby, Willa, was born in July, LadBible reported. Since giving birth, the 24-year-old shared photos of her pregnancy and details about her daughter's birth.
Encouragement to Anti-Mask Wearers
The new mom gave the comment in response to people who object to mask-wearing; some even attacking workers who reprimand them. As COVID-19 cases surge in the U.S., many states have already begun mandating the use of masks. But, the mandate has been met with many objections.
The CDC previously revealed that COVID-19 can be transmitted via respiratory droplets. When people sneeze, cough, talk, sing, or even just breathe, COVID-19 could already be transmitted.
As such, non-valve multi-layer face masks are recommended. The emission of virus droplets could be reduced by wearing a mask. People can be pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic and may infect others without being aware.

More Moms Deliver Babies with Masks On
New York mom Valeri Hedges came into labor with her ask on. She delivered a healthy daughter while her husband watched the delivery on FaceTime. She did not want to infect others if she were asymptomatic as her husband had COVID-19 symptoms, which later turned out to be negative.
Hedges revealed that wearing a mask during childbirth does not affect breathing. "It is very little to ask of us to help contain the pandemic," she revealed.
Kayla Velazquez also did not leave her mask when she delivered her baby on Mother's Day. She even went through COVID-19 screening and multiple temperature checks while at the hospital. Further safety precautions included using an air filter in the room. All the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff also wore personal protective equipment (PPE).
Velazquez recalls having the option to discharge with her baby after 24 hours. This option was given to them to reduce the risk of infection over a long time at the hospital. Speaking about those who do not wear masks, she says, " They may not realize the severity of the pandemic or know not anyone affected."
Emergency room nurse Jessica Johnson reveals that many people come without a mask. On the contrary, she and her husband wore masks while they were at the hospital for childbirth.
For Johnson, wearing a mask meant feeling an assurance that they will not get infected at the hospital. She also made sure not to infect others, knowing that breathing and pushing during childbirth can cause lots of tiny droplets to spread.
