Will Smith Does Not Believe in Punishing His Kids

Busy with their upcoming movie "After Earth", actors Will Smith and son Jaden took time out for an interview and shared a few things about their father-son bond.

In an interview to Metro, Will talked about parenting and Jaden boasted about his parents being the coolest in the world. And, why wouldn't he? Will does not punish his children.

When asked about when was the last he punished his son, the "Men in Black" actor promptly said, "We (Will and JadaPinkett Smith) don't do punishment. The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible and the concept of punishment, our experience has been-it has a little too much of a negative quality."

Will says that he feels there is absolutely no harm in allowing children to do what they want; as long as they explain why it is right to do that thing. Isn't he an extremely liberal father?

Jr Smith is all gaga over his parents and says "it works pretty well." Explaining the difference between him and the other teenagers, the 14-year-old says there are a few things that other children his age do, which he does not like. "Other teenagers go to parties and sometimes I be like, 'Why am I here right now?' And most of the time, I just leave right then and there. Some things I don't like to do that other teenagers do. Everyone thinks that since you make movies, you go to parties, and I like to party, but not normal teenage parties."

However, we will keep an eye on how this parenting technique of the Smiths works.
