Every family has its own routines or traditions. However, every year, these are always subjected to improvements. According to a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Yoga Teacher, Katie Mason, there could be simple ways that can be followed to improve health and wellness.
In families, routines and traditions may be altered or developed so that every member's health and wellness can be improved.

Self-assess
For one to understand how things will move forward, he or she must first know how they spend their time. According to Mason, the things that you spend time with should be analyzed as to whether it is affecting an individual negatively or positively.
For families, it is best that family members are also aware of the activities that they spend more time with, and vice versa. If any family member has an illness or a physical issue, they should get that looked at first. Medical checkups and good prescription meds will help you get better and on track for your wellness routine.
Create morning and/or evening routines
If there are none in place yet, creating healthy habits is a must. These habits can create structure and motivation, not only for the parents but for the kids as well.
In creating morning or evening routines, it allows each member to easily plan and foresee how they will end or start their days.
An example of an evening routine could be avoiding the use of cellphones or gadgets at least thirty minutes before bedtime. Instead of using a phone in the evening, some of the routines that could be put in place are drinking something warm before sleeping, reading a journal, stretching, or meditating. During mornings, exercising instead of immediately checking emails can be a good routine.
Try mindful eating
Mindful eating is not just simply eating when you are craving something. Instead of mindful eating is listening to what the body needs and being aware of what you are eating.

Exercise
Another routine that could be added to the list of things that can help improve one's health and wellness is squeezing in some physical activity. For example, taking an evening walk or doing some light work can already be a big step ahead.
Start small
Incorporating new routines to improve one's health and wellness could entail a lot of work for some. If this is the case, the best way to go is to start small. To accomplish any goal, the best way is to put a short timeframe and extend it into a long-term vision afterward.
Be patient
While going through changes and improvements, one should not feel frustrated in reaching their goals. According to Mason, "Some steps take longer to complete than others, and that's okay."
