A dad hurries to buy formula milk for his newborn baby in Centurion, South Africa. However, on his way home, he was arrested for violating curfew.

According to reports, he was only 500m away from their house when the police stopped him.

According to TimesLIVE, the father went to the pharmacy of Netcare Unitas Hospital last Friday. He went to the hospital at around 1 am. The dad hurries to buy formula milk for his newborn baby.

According to the dad's lawyer, Lily Rautenbach, the dad had to hurry because the mom was having a hard time breastfeeding the newborn baby.

The mom and the baby was just discharged from the hospital last January 7.

According to Rautenbach, "The baby didn't get enough nutrition, and therefore the father had to rush to hospital to buy formula."


Dad got arrested for violating curfew.

As the dad hurries to buy formula milk for his newborn baby, he was stopped by police officers. His lawyer shared that the dad tried to show proof that he bought formula milk for his newborn baby.

Despite such proof, the dad was arrested for violating curfew.

He was released later in the morning but is also scheduled to appear in court soon.

The mom had to fetch the milk.

The lawyer also told news outlets that because the newborn baby had to be fed, the mom had no choice but to fetch the milk.

To get the milk, the mom had to leave her children at home. She also had to bring the newborn baby to the scene and got the formula milk and the car keys. The mom walked going to where her husband was.


Police will conduct an internal investigation.

Because the dad tried to show proof of buying the formula milk and was still arrested, the police are viewing the allegations very seriously. That was according to the spokesperson of Gauteng police, Brig Mathapelo Peters.

The provincial commissioner, Lt. Gen. Elias Mawela already ordered an urgent internal investigation.

South Africa implements lockdown regulations.

Because of the second way of infections caused by the new variant of COVID-19, South Africa had to implement lockdown regulations.

During the last week of December, South Africa president, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced the restrictions.

Aside from earlier curfews, a ban on alcohol sales, compulsory mask-wearing, and social gathering protocols were put into place again.

Also, areas like the beach, public parks, and public swimming pools will be closed in hot spot areas. Due to the new COVID-19 variant, several provinces in the country are again on the list of hotspots.

The Level 3 lockdown will be implemented until January 15, 2021.
