How This Atlanta Couple Lost Nearly 200 Pounds Together

A couple from Atlanta had lost nearly 200 pounds together after they realized that they needed a change. After a physical exam one day, the couple decided to give their best to get in shape. Now, they are inspiring other people with their story.

Camille and Marlon Jones were having a hard time losing weight before the pandemic happened. Camille, who weighed 205 pounds a year ago, told Good Morning America that she and her partner were both in denial for a very long time.

When did they decide to lose weight?

When Marlon underwent a physical exam one day, that was the deciding point in the couple's life. The results showed that he was pre-diabetic; apart from that, the couple also learned that Marlon was experiencing sleep apnea.

Because of that, the couple decided to make a lifestyle change. The duo believed that the best way to get in shape was to do it together. Marlon weighed over 470 pounds when his diagnosis was made.

He told the outlet that they realized that they had to work together to make things happen. He said that working as a team would become their "biggest thing."

The roles they played to get back in shape

The duo decided to divide the monitoring of their weight loss journey into two. Camille was the one who took charge of the nutrition side, while Marlon was the one to monitor the workout.

The Atlanta couple made sure to make their weight loss journey fun. Aside from incorporating healthy foods to make changes in their diet, the duo also did different workouts to have fun in their journey.

Soon, the Joneses started seeing visible changes. Other than that, they also found a new love for running. Marlon said that they had no idea where to go when they started running. The couple then decided to run first in a business parking lot. Then they ran for 2.3 miles until they were able to run around the parking lot.

A healthier diet

Being the one responsible for their nutrition, Camille tried to become creative in the kitchen. She added a healthy twist to some of their favorite meals by transforming them. Marlon's favorite food is nachos, so Camille transformed the dish into its healthier version.

Using low-carb tortillas, Camille also used ground turkey and chicken chorizo to replace the fatty meats that used to be included in the ingredients. The duo gives props to themselves for helping each other stay on track.

Camille has already lost 40 pounds, while Marlon has already lost 150 pounds since they started their weight loss journey. The biggest advice the Atlanta couple has for others is that they should not doubt themselves when it comes to meeting their goals.

Camille said that you should try things first before you give up. She explained that most of the time, one person would realize that he could once he was able to try it out.
