According to an article published by PEOPLE, the 2-year-old Ohio boy suffered from a rare inflammatory disease. This rare disease is called transverse myelitis. Alaric started suffering from this last December, and since then, hospital staff has been working hard to help him recover faster.

Transverse myelitis is a disease that causes injury and inflammation to the spinal cord. This disease caused the young boy to be completely paralyzed.

However, last December 20, a few weeks after being admitted to the hospital, hospital staff noticed that the 2-year-old Ohio boy had some intentional movement.

According to the hospital, that is when everyone worked hard to help the young boy.

After displaying "intentional movement," and through hospital staff's help, Alaric was allowed to start working with physical therapists.

The 2-year-old boy trained with his physical therapists twice a day so that he could regain his movement.

Alaric's father also helped his son through recovery by taking him on walks around the hospital. The young Ohio boy would often befriend those they would pass at the hospital during the walks.

What the hospital staff did was set up a mini race road on the hallway floor. The event was even complete with a banner that read, "I did it!"
